Idukki Dam, without any doubt, is the best Dam I have visited in my life. We can see two giant dams in the same place - first one is the Cheriyathonni Dam and the other one is the Arch Dam.

As photography was strictly not allowed because of the security reasons, we could not take any close clicks of the dam. But it's worthy to spend couple of hours here to view these two dams and know the facts about it.

There is a big story behind the construction of this story. You can google it and check before your trip ;) The giant Idukki reservoir consists of 3 dams and 2 of them can be seen together in this place which I already mentioned above. The third one is bit far which we couldn't visit due to our time constraints.

The best among this is the Arch dam which doesn't have a shutter. This is constructed between two mountains in an Arch shape without any shutter. We will feel its height when we are on top of it. Really amazing experience..!

We have to walk around about 2kms through the top of the Cheriyathonni dam to reach the Arch dam. Electric cars are available which will take us towards the arch dam in just 15 mins, but we have to wait for 2hours to get the ticket and get into the car :( So we walked towards the Arch dam, though its lengthy it was fun walking through the top of a giant dam.

On the way there is path going towards to the right which will take us to a cave called Vyshali cave. The scenary of the dam from the cave was awesome..!

Finally we reached the Arch dam and we felt it was worthy to walk this long distance. Such an amazing view from the top of the dam. Really loved it. While returning, we got the ticket for the electric car easily and came back to the Cheriyathoni dam entrance in 15 mins.

Near to this, there is a boating service, which will take us to the Cheriyathoni dam reservoir.
