The Beauty of Malampuzha (Part 03):

Rock Garden: Considered to be the first of its kind in South India, the Malampuzha Rock Garden attracts tourists from world wide. The Rock Garden was inaugurated on 7th January, 1996 in a building constructed by the District Nirmithi Kendra, Palakkad. This impressive collection of artwork is conceived and designed by renowned sculptor Padmasree Late Neck Chand Saini , the creator of India's first rock garden, located in Chandigarh. What makes this garden distinct is the fact that the artefacts displayed here are made of waste materials such as used plastic bottles and cans, waste pieces of Tiles, Granites, Stones, Electricity Fuse Carriers, Power Insulators, Broken Bangles, Melamine Dishware etc. Winding mountain ranges of the Western Ghats in the surroundings add to the scenic beauty of this garden. Rock Garden is located near Malampuzha Dam & Garden. The rock garden is being maintained by the District Tourism Promotion Council, Palakkad. Surrounded by verdant rolling hills, the rock garden offers an utterly romantic settings, where one can enjoy the human made wonders, in the lap of Nature. The diversity of the country is reflected in the statues constructed in the garden. Scenes, taken from the cultural art forms of Kerala, such as the Kathakali, Theyyam, Kalarippayattu and Thiruvathirakali have been recreated here. The rock garden at Malampuzha was thrown open to the public in 1996, and remains one of the magnificent human-made wonders in India.

South Malampuzha: Your Malampuzha trip will not be completed without visiting South Malampuzha. It is located just behind the Malampuzha Dam. We can see the mesmerizing views of the Malampuzha Reservoir along with Western Ghats background during this 14 km road trip via small rocky mountains, rubber estates and forest.
