Bangalore to Kotagiri Road Trip

The GPS showed that drive to Kotagiri from Banglore will take 7 hours. We started in the morning around 6:30 am, the drive through 6 lane express way was very smooth. We could easily drive at 100km/hr. Once we reached the exit from expressway to Ooty, just before the exit we had breakfast t the hotel Atrium. They had a buffet breakfast for Rs 230/- pp at the restaurant named Swad. It was a South Indian buffet with Idly, Dosa, Vada and Kesari Bhatt. Once we filled our stomach, we started to drive towards Kotagiri. After driving for little while we reached the Jungle of Bandipur. The drive through the Jungle was very beautiful. We spotted herd of deers on the way. One is not allowed to get down on this road. Later on the same road enters Mudumalai Jungle in Tamil Nadu. The dampner here was the check post where they were checking each car and the traffic jam was around 2 km. As they say there is always a silver lining in the dark clouds, while waiting in the Jam, we spotted an Elephant. This was a pretty sight. After the Jungle got over, we had a steep climb through 36 hair pin bends to reach Ooty. We were planning to have lunch in Kotagiri but due to the traffic jam delayed our plan and we had lunch in Ooty. We started our onwards journey after lunch and it was another 14 hair pin bends to reach Kotagiri from Ooty which was around an hours drive. Over all it took us around 10 hours to reach Kotagiri. It was a nice drive except for the traffic jam at Mudumalai check post. Have a look at our journey from Banglore to Kotagiri.
