Ooty (a.k.a) Udhagamandalam is called as the "Queen of Hill Stations" and it is one of the most popular tourist resorts in India.

Ooty is the capital of Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu and one of the famous tourist places for the honeymooners. Nilgiris in tamil means Blue Mountains. It is situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level. Enjoying a hot cup of the Ooty tea along with your beloved offers a heavenly experience.

An added attraction for the tourists to Ooty is the mountain train (Toy train) journey. The toy train runs from Ooty to Coonoor railway station four times a day. Dodabetta Peak, Botanical Garden, Ooty Lake, Pykara Waterfalls are some of the main attractions in Ooty. There will be many cab services with one day sight seeing tour plans, but it will be more comfortable and economical if you have own vehicle.

Ooty is a charming hill escape for those looking for peace and serenity.  The hill town of Ooty is a nice place to indulge in shopping if not something really unusual. Commercial Road is one of the best places to shop where there are a number of government shops, Kashmiri shops and Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan. Ooty sells some excellent tea. Homemade Chocolates, Eucalyptus oil, Cloves, Cinnamon, Bay Leaves, Nilgiri Tea are the main shopping attraction of Ooty. You can buy woolen goods also from there, they are good and cheap.

Another major attraction here, Toy Train goes through the breathtaking scenic views of Lovedale, Ketti etc. Many Indian movies had been shot on this train including the famous "Chaya Chaya" song od Dil Se!. On the way, one can see a number of streams of water flowing from the hills and greenery abound.

We recommend going from March to June - March to June is Ooty’s summer, and weather does not tend to rise above 20°C, making temperatures comfortable enough to walk about and participate in daily activities.
