Ancient temple on the highest peak of Bandipur Tiger reserve - Himavad Gopalaswamy Temple

Himavad Gopalaswamy - The Temple most of the time gets covered by mist. This place is situated at the highest peak of Bandipur tiger reserve forest and not know to many tourist yet. You can’t reach here by public vehicle, there is a parking at the foot hill of Himavad Hill (outside Bandipur forest boundary) where you need to park your car and take KSTDC bus to reach at the top of hill which is in the middle of the tiger reserve forest.

Temple timings are around 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Inside the fort is the Gopalaswamy Temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. The gopuram of the temple is single-tiered and rests on the compound wall of the enclosure. The parapet wall of the facade of the mukha mantapa contains the sculpture of dashavatara (the avatars of the Lord Vishnu). You can have prasadam there as lunch and enjoy the full day.
