Varkala is famous for its beautiful beaches and cliff view, also it is called mini Goa. Cafes, cuisines, and souvenir shops at varkala cliff and ofcourse night life. Varkala is small town and some part situated on cliff. So beach view from cliff is a kind of different experience. Varkala is only town in Kerala where cliff are adjacent to the Arabian Sea.

And Trivandrum is famous for its big temple Sree Padmnabhaswamy Temple which is one of the richest temples in India and Trivandrum has scenic Kovalam beach. And some other place like poovar island where backwater and mangrove forest can be seen.

Day 1-

I explored Varkala and covered below places.

Covered destinations:  Anjengo fort, light house, Kappil lake & Kappil beach, Varkala Beach,  Black beach, Varkala cliff, temples.

Activity you can try boating, surfing…

I enjoyed shopping a lot at Varkala cliff, but yes here you should negotiate also for the product price, if you feel it is not worth. You can find different kind of items, crafts, clothing, souvenirs, café, restaurant all there in the market on cliff. Also you can enjoy the evening at cliff while watching ocean and having snacks or dinner in any café/restaurant.  It is kind of different experience.

And the most important thing I enjoyed at my bamboo cottage stay where Ocean wave sound was audible whole night, it was kind of meditating sound where whole night there was no other sound except this ocean wave sound.

I would strongly recommend others choosing stay on the Varkala cliff from where ocean is visible. And ocean waves and strong winds can be felt.

Day-2 :

I left Varkala and headed towards Trivandrum. In Trivandrum I covered below places.

Covered Destinations: Sree Padmnabhaswamy Temple, Palace Museum (Kuthira Malika), Poovar Island.

And if you visiting Kovalam beach then you can try boating, scuba diving, paragliding there.

First of all I visited Sree Padmnabhaswamy temple, then visited Palace Museum (Kuthira Malika) which is adjacent to the temple itself.

My next destination was Poovar island- It is a must go place I would say. It has clean backwater and nice golden sand beach.

Boat ride in backwater and through Mangrove forest is amazing experience. Total boat ride trip time was 1.5 hour. Where you will see Golden Sand beach which is one of the best, pristine and photogenic beach, also during boat ride, you will see floating cottage, floating restaurant where you can enjoy tasty food there. You will see Elephant shaped rock and Statue of Mother Mary. And while returning they will take you through Mangrove forest which is best and thrilling experience.
