Dhoni is a small village in Palakkad district of Kerala, located around 15 KM away from Palakkad town. This village is famous for its enchanting paddy fields, forests, misty mountains and refreshing waterfalls. Dhoni is bordered by Western Ghats on North. It is also a popular trekking spot in South India. The reserve forests could be reached after a three-hour-trek from the base of Dhoni hills. The trekking starts at the foot of the hills near the Teak plantation. This trek will take you to the pristine beauty of nature, and the lush green surroundings will rejuvenate your senses. A narrow mountain way is there for four-wheel drives and bikes that lead up to the waterfall; however private vehicles are prohibited through these forest roads. This 4 km long trekking trail through the lush green environs bestows one with a quiet isolated space to witness nature in its most tranquil form. The forest houses a rare variety of flora and fauna. Also there are elephants, deer, tiger and bison among others.  One can see water flowing down between the rocks on the way up especially during Monsoon. The place is calm and enlivening. Though the mountain trekking is a bit arduous, once you reach the top, the surroundings will surely make you forget yourself.  A day spent here with your family or friends is sure to gift you with unforgettable memories which anyone would wish to relish. It would just take a day to go around the place. It is a must-watch paradise, when you are in Kerala- God’s Own Country.
