Next time you are in Udupi checkout these places. Here is a quick itinerary from my experience:

Beaches in Udupi:

  1. Malpe Beach - This is the main tourist attraction, here you will find lot of water sports like Parasailing (Rs. 1000), Jet Ski (Rs. 500), Banana boat ride etc., There are also lot of shops for food every day, but on special occasion you might get to experience exhibition, music event and so on…

  2. Malpe Sea Walk - Located right next to the Malpe Harbour, offers a unique view of confluence of Arabian Sea and river. Place is open between 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM. Entry/ Parking - Rs. 30. A good Instagram spot. If you have time checkout the place in the evening to view the seawalk in lights.

  3. St Mary’s Island - Take a boat ride from Malpe beach or Malpe Sea Walk near harbour (Rs. 300 per person) to reach this beautiful Island. This calm and serene Island surrounded by blue waters with shores lined with coconut trees. The speciality here is the formation of volcanic rocks which is unique to this place. This is now a national geological monument and one can spend easily an hour here.

  4. Kaup Beach - Less crowded than Malpe beach. Main attraction is the light house. Entry to the light house is between 4:00 - 6:00 PM and entry ticket is Rs. 10 per person. Best beach to experience sun set in Udupi.

Temples:

  1. Udupi Sri Krishna Temple - 13th century temple with lots of history, it is one of the famous spiritual centre in Udupi. Temple has a small, beautiful Krishna idle and the unique nature is you will be viewing the god through a small window.

  2. Venugopala Swamy temple, inside MIT campus - Dome shaped temple, different architecture and very less crowded.

Church:

  1. Our Lady of Fatima Church, Perampally - We found this church with beautiful architecture very close to where we stayed in Udupi Manipal area.

Offbeat Place:

  1. Heroor Hanging Bridge - This is an offbeat place, offers a beautiful view and definitely a unique experience.

  2. Hasta Shilpa Heritage Village Museum - Close to 15+ traditional houses have been preserved at this heritage village museum. It’s a must visit place. You can also checkout my video to know more..
