A gem of the Western Ghat

 Wayanad is one of the beautiful hill stations in Kerala. Stay in the wilderness of lush green forest that stretches from Brahmagiri mountains in the west to the Bandipur reserve forest in the east, hike to the Banasura mountains that kiss the clouds, cool off your body and soul in one of the numerous waterfalls, take a boat ride with your loved ones in the natural freshwater lake of Pookode at an altitude over 2500 feet. Spend one night in the wilderness of Brahmagari mountains which is known for its emerald green meadows and fogy hilltops. Wayanad is one of the few places in south India where one can scoot from the tedious city life and melt into the nature.

To me, Wayanad is also my second home as it is the home town of my husband. So whenever we visit India, we spend most of our time there. Wayanad is the only district in Kerala that shares borders with two of the neighboring states Karnataka & Tamil Nadu. So if you plan touring Mysore in Karnataka or Ooty in  Tamil Nadu , Wayanad will be of a nice extension with just a 100 extra kilometers - if you have a couple more days to spend.
