Marina beach is the prime tourist destination of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It starts from St Fort George in the north and runs till Foreshore estates in the south covering over a 13 km of area.The beach is primarily sandy and pleasantly cool during the evenings and the smooth breeze from the ocean makes a walk very nice. The memorial of the former Tamil Nadu chief ministers Annadurai , M.G.R, Jayalalitha, and Karunanudhi  is situated in Marina beach.

This urban beach is a hangout for the people to relax in the evenings. Gets busy with lot of activities in the early morning and in the evening. During the evening, beach will be heavily crowded and most of the area will be occupied by street stalls and local sellers. Walking along the beaches during Sunrise and Sunset is a pleasant experience for all.

This beach takes a different role with numerous stalls selling artifacts, handcrafted showpiece, ethnic jewellery, snacks and food items in the evening.  It is also the best place for kids to play around.

Marina beach is the famous landmark in the Chennai city and considered as the Pride of city. This urban stretch in the coastal city of Chennai has a noteworthy history. There are many statues and monuments found along the beach like the statues of Triumph of Labour, Mahatma Gandhi, Kambar, Ilango Adigal, Kannagi, Bharathiyar, Bharathidasan.

There is a famous lighthouse called the "Madras Light House" facing the Bay of Bengal a popular landmark is worth visiting. This beach has many building since 19th century to visit like The Vivekananda house, Sri Parthasarathy Swamy Temple, St.Thomas Cathedral Basilica, Connemara Library.

The beach is one of the most outstanding open spaces in Chennai and is host to many important national and cultural events like the parades on Independence Day and Republic Day. India’s biggest Marathon, The annual Chennai Marathon starts from Anna Square near Marina beach.

Marina Beach is very popular with the locals. The beach also has a skating arena, joggers track and aquarium. It has lot of fun activities for both kids and adults like Pony rides, merry-go-rounds, giant wheels, Balloon shooting. The shops and snacks stalls in the beach make us feel like a carnival evening.  One can spend a quality time with his/her family and friends in Marina beach and can return with a bag of sweet memories.
