Me & my family were planning for a monsoon trip for many months to enjoy lush greenery amist clouds. We have planned many trips to variuos hill stations of near Karnataka like Coog,Chilmanglur, ooty etc. looking at best time to visit when the skies are clear inorder to have the best clear view of the mountains from the peaks. But this time we had a different plan in mind ,this time we wanted to enjoy  a hill station with the clouds around us.
So although we had been to Yercaud once before but this time it will mansoon trip up the hills with the clouds . Yercaud that is a hill station in Salem district of Tamilnadu. Yercaud is around 4 hours drive and 400kms from bangalore that is well connected by road by NH44. The climb up the hill stations go through 20 hair pin bends with lush greenery and view of the Salem city on the sides. Once we reached Yercaud ,we were greeted with clouds all  around us . We had our lunch near the Yercaud lake and headed straight to the hotel that is around  2kms from Yercaud lake. Yercaud lake is said to be the centre point  of Yercaud . Nice thing that I find nice about yercaud is all the tourist attraction point are very close within max 10kms from yercaud lake. Near yercaud lake are four most popular places thar are yercaud botanical park, 3 view points namely  lady's seat , gent's seat and children's seat. Also near to yercaud lake are few places to visit like a rose garden, a zoo, a fish  aquarium and

you can also take a horse ride around the lake. The lake is however the prime attraction of yercaud . The lake offers different types of boat rides like pedal boat for 2 or 4 people and motor boat for for more than 7 people. We took  a lovely boat ride with my family in a pedal boat . The lake was surrounded by clouds as it was monsoons and clouds kept coming  and clearing in minutes as it rained. It was a lovely experience and felt like simla or Nainital on a lighter note. Also Yercaud had many view points  and also had a  kariyur falls but to reach that requires 300 steps to climb so we had to skip as we had a baby with us .
On the 1st day we visited the rose garden, the view points close to the lake and headed to the hotel to rest. There are lot of multi cuisine restaurants with reasonable rates nearby the lake with lot of choices of eat . We had dinner in the Water Front  restaurant that just opposite to the lake  and went back finally to the hotel for the night.

On the 2nd day we visited the botanical park where many indigenous varies of Orchids & flowers are showcased in the green house . The garden is well maintained and looks very beautiful. The we went to the Yercaud lake for boating and the nearby zoo and fish aquarium. Finally we had lunch is in a nearby restaurant and around 4pm considering the visibility was getting poor due to the coming clouds we started by return journey to Bangalore down the hill.
Yercaud as a hill station is my most favorite gateway destination for a weekend considering it's very close to bangalore around 4 hours with good roads and it has all the ingredients that one expects to experience in a hill stations. It has lush green Mountains, a lake for beatings, a waterfall , coffee plantations, a typical botanical park and beautiful view points .

So anyone who has limited leave from office and still wanna have a quick vacation to a nearby well connected hill station that is less crowded must consider Yercaud in their bucket list. With this am winding up my yercaud trip. Thank you guys.
