World's largest monolithic statue - The Gomateshwara Bahubali statue at Shravanabelagola
After going a litlle further on the NH75 and taking a left at Mattanavile and drive another 15 kms from my last post of 32 Feet Sai Baba Cave Temple,Approx 135 kms from Bangalore, You will reach the foothills of Vidhyagiri Betta(hills), Shravanabelagola town. After climbing around 700 steps that are carved in the hill, you will reach the famous Shravanabelagola Temple which is the home to the 57-foot high monolithic statue of Lord Gommateshwara Shri Bahubali. Carved of a single block of granite, it is the tallest monolithic statue in India.
