The visit to top places near Madikeri took us to some breathtaking views of Raja's seat, the interesting history of Madikeri fort, the history behind construction of Omkareshwar temple, one of the most visited places in Coorg- the Abbey Falls and the visit to Madikeri market to check out the spices and homemade wine. We planned our trip in such a way that we cover the places near by Madikeri in around 5 to 7 km radius on the first day. This took us to Raja's seat, Madikeri fort, Omkareshwar temple and Madikeri market . These places are all in walkable distance to each other. Abbey falls was our next destination which is around 7 km from Madikeri. The view from Raja's seat is awesome. One can view the hills with an umbrella of clouds and lush green surroundings, its a breathtaking view. The king of Coorg used to come here to watch the sunrise and sunset. This place is open from 5:30 am till 8:00pm, the ticket price is Rs 10/-. Next we went to Madikeri fort, the fort was ruled by different kings, it was under renovation went we went there. Its a free entry to the fort. After visiting the fort we went to Omkareshwar temple, this temple is built in Mughal and Gothic style and was constructed by the King as a punishment. Coorg is famous for spices and coffee, we went to the Madikeri market to buy some of the local produce before heading to Abbey falls, which is another must visit place in Coorg
