Badami is located in North Karnataka formerly called Vatapi. Chalukyas ruled the place between 540 AD and 757 AD. This place is famous for its Cave temple which is cut out of sandstone rocks surrounds the Agastya lake.
Cave Temple: There are four cave temples. Three among the four cave temples are dedicated to deities of Hinduism and one cave is dedicated to Jainism. The first temple is dedicated to Nataraj, second and third temples to Lord Vishnu and fourth temple to Lord Mahavira. Other places near by the cave temples are:

•Tipu's Fort
•Archelogical Museum

Tipu's Fort:The fort is situated near the archelogical museum.The Badami Fort was built by Chalukyan and was the capital from 540 AD to 757 AD before the place was destroyed by the Pallavas in 642 AD.The Fort was rebuilt by Tipu Sultan during his rule.The fort is surrounded with double-fortification walls,upper and lower Shivalaya complexes,chambers for granaries and a large canon. One can get a spectacular view of the whole Badami city from the Fort.
How to go: Distance from Bangalore is 511 km. Badami is well connected by road and railway lines from Bangalore.Nearest airport: Belgaum
